From ridges and summits alike, each painting in this new body of work exudes warmth. This collection captures the fleeting, golden geometry of high-alpine environments, focusing on the precise moments when the sunlight shifts through the valleys below, shimmers across lakes, and sparkles through the subalpine beargrass.

Working with oil on canvas, I focus on bringing the details of the landscape to life in order to translate the physical grandeur of the backcountry into a tangible visual experience. Each painting is directly inspired by personal time spent in remote fire lookouts and navigating grueling ascents, translating the vast scale of the wilderness into intimate, light-filled compositions.

My hope is that these paintings transport you to the exact moment the sun crests the mountains across the horizon or the fleeting afternoon glow as the sun sets. I want this collection to evoke personal memories of the sun warming your face while the cool mountain air nips at your back. You’ve climbed the mountain; now, through these visual windows, you get to relish in the fruits of your labor.
